TRACE ADKINS RETURNED “IN COLOR” IN LAS VEGAS

04/08/09

By: Craig Shelburne - CMT

Trace Adkins won an ACM Award on Sunday night (April 5) for “You’re Gonna Miss This,” but he also mentioned that he was the first to record “In Color,” which won for song of the year. “In Color” was written by Jamey Johnson, Lee Thomas Miller and James Otto.

“Yeah, I cut it,” Adkins told reporters backstage in Las Vegas. “I was actually in Vegas. I was playing at the Hilton, and Jamey, Dallas Davidson and Randy Houser [co-writers of 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk'] all came to the show that night,

TRACE VISITS THE ACM PRESSROOM

04/07/09

Written by Craig Shelburne - CMT

LAS VEGAS -- For those of us who routinely cover events like the ACM Awards, which were held in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 5), the pressroom is nothing special -- just some computers, a couple of TVs and a few dozen jaded journalists. Trace Adkins, however, hesitated at the microphone before fielding questions.

"So this is what the winners' room looks like," he deadpanned.

Despite a decade-long career, Adkins is perennially overlooked by industry awards, but he finally broke the dry spell when "You're Gonna Miss This" won the ACM trophy for single of the year.

TRACE ADKINS AND WEST POINT GLEE CLUB DELIVER AT THE ACM AWARDS

04/07/09

By: Whitney Self - CMT

I can’t say there was much of anything Sunday night (April 5) that really piqued my interest during the Academy of Country Music Awards show telecast. I saw mostly the same artists, heard many of the same songs and was rather disappointed in many of the performances, save maybe Jamey Johnson or Lee Ann Womack. However, there was one moment and one performance in particular that made this show award-winning in my book. This would be when Lt. Andrew Kinard, a soldier whom had been injured in Iraq, so eloquently presented Trace Adkins and the West Point Glee Club performing “Til the Last Shot’s Fired.” He told the audience, “As you listen to this song, please consider: It’s not about the war, it’s about the warrior.”

AMERICA'S TOUGHEST TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Trace Adkins Joins For Big, Bold Summer Outing

Songwriter, entertainer and Show Dog Nashville proprietor Toby Keith has never been accused of thinking small, and his 2009 summer tour won't do anything to change that. Fresh from his 25th No. 1 single, Toby, band and crew will saddle up for Toby Keith America's Toughest Tour.

And the lineup isn't just tough, it's big with the addition of hit-maker Trace Adkins. Not only are both artists large in stature – twin towers of musical muscle – they're also two of the most recognizable performers in the world of music.

TRACE ADKINS SHOCKED BY ACM WIN

04/06/09

The Boot - by Beville Darden

Trace Adkins has his first ACM Award since 1996, taking home honors in 2009 for Single of the Year for 'You're Gonna Miss This.' No one was more surprised about the win than Trace himself.

"I have to tell you the truth. This song was recorded by a father whose oldest daughter had just gotten married. It was very personal to me, and I didn't think other people would relate to it the way I did," he said. "So it was put on a greatest hits album as a bonus track -- never gonna be a single, and Mike Dungan [President, Capitol Records Nashville] called one day and told me it was gonna be a single. And I said, 'Go ahead, but ain't nobody gonna play it.' I'm glad I'm an idiot!"
