Trace Adkins was qualified to gloat about his two nominations at Tuesday night's CMT Music Awards.
After all, he had to persuade his label, Capitol Nashville, to let him make the video for "You're Gonna Miss This," which was up for video of the year and male video of the year (though it won neither). Trace sang the song — which topped the Billboard country chart for three straight weeks — during the show.
"The song was just a bonus track on a greatest-hits album. It was never intended to be a single," Trace explained recently.

Trace Adkins showed up at the CMA Music Festival pressroom Saturday minus his hat and with no ponytail. His hair was hanging in wavy curls way down past his shoulders and, really, people were stunned. Adkins made a joke about the microphone being too short, and by that time everyone had regained their composure.
From there, the gruff singer talked about his upcoming tour with Toby Keith and how he has no control over the music that gets played in his house.
A reporter then lobbed a question: Who's tougher, him or Toby?

Trace Adkins brought his family along Thursday morning (June 11) when he hosted his fan club party at Nashville's Belcourt Theatre during the CMA Music Festival. Seated alone on the stage, he spent about an hour answering questions previously submitted by his fan club members. Among other things, Adkins revealed he doesn't use computers ("don't like them," he said), his favorite interviewer is Craig Ferguson and he would not consider running for president. The 47-year-old singer also said it's awesome being a grandfather. He took a moment to describe 17-month-old Hadley as beautiful and smart, saying, "She even knows sign language." Later at the party, Adkins was joined onstage by two guitarists to accompany him on a short set of songs. The party closed with fans having their photos taken with Adkins. more!
