Recent Tour Provided Opportunity to Reminisce About the Early Years of Their Careers
Toby Keith and Trace Adkins recently completed their America's Toughest tour together and recalled the days before they had the clout to headline at some of the nation's largest concert venues. However, both agree about importance of having paid their dues in the nightclubs of Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas.
Before they became famous, Keith and Adkins were playing some of the same clubs on the regional circuit, although their paths never crossed.
"We knew of each other, but we never really did run into each other," Adkins told CMT Insider.
"It's hard to run into each other when you're working as much as we did,"

MAKES ITS PREMIERE ON CMT AND GAC NEXT WEEK
September 24, 2009 - Trace Adkins’ video for his recent hit “All I Ask For Anymore” makes it debut on CMT and CMT.com on Monday, September 28 and on GAC and CMT PURE both beginning on Tuesday, September 29.
“All I Ask For Anymore” is a moving and coming of age song about getting a better understanding of what is most important and putting life’s priorities in order and realizing, for instance, the need to pray for your family’s health and safety above your own. The video, directed by the award-winning team of Robert Deaton and George Flanigen of Deaton Flanigen Productions, reflects this in a unique and powerful way.
The Wounded Warrior Project — a non-profit focused on aiding injured service members — hosts a "Southern Shindig" on Fri., Sept. 25 at the Loveless Barn, with country star Trace Adkins taking the stage in support of the organization.
The "Shindig" serves as the kickoff for the project's Soldier Ride — a "rehabilitative cycling program"/series of rides that kicked off in 2004. The Wounded Warrior folks help outfit wounded soldiers to be able to ride, which, along with helping the riders' health, allows them help raise awareness about servicemen and –women like themselves.

Throughout his career, Trace Adkins has had his share of hits, including several No. 1's. And while there's no set formula for success in the music business, Trace stays keenly aware of what has worked for him in the past -- mainly staying truthful to his audience.
"I try to make albums that reflect real life, and real life is a mix of seriousness and fun times," the father of five tells Access Atlanta. "It depends on the mood and the situation. I enjoy doing all types of songs in the studio. As far as the response from fans and radio, the uptempo stuff seems to be more popular. When I'm on tour, I lean more towards the fun, uptempo stuff. If you're not enjoying what you do as much as the audience is enjoying it, you need to find something else to do."
On July 15th, 2009 the church featured in Trace's video for "Muddy Water" was destroyed by a fire. Bethlehem United Methodist Church was so kind to allow Trace to film there, and he would like to return the favor. Trace Adkins says that if you squint just right -- and what country music star can't squint just right? -- playing at the York Fair is like a trip back in time.
"It's a throwback, one of those fairs that just sticks out in my mind," says Adkins, who will perform next week at what is billed as "America's Oldest Fair." "There are a few around the country where you go and it just feels like it's Americana. If nobody told you, you might think it was 1950."
Trace tapped soldiers who recently served oversees to be a part of his latest video. The Video was shot Sept 2nd at the Tennessee Air Guard in Nashville. A $58 million, 2,200-acre memorial is scheduled to open on the 10th anniversary of the attack.
