Country music star Trace Adkins will be presented with the DAR Medal of Honor, the most prestigious honor awarded by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, during a special private ceremony. The Sarah Polk Chapter DAR of Brentwood is presenting Trace with the honor in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership to his state and nation and for his patriotism and humanitarian works.

Country music star and former "Celebrity Apprentice" finalist Trace Adkins dropped into a damp Portland this morning to raise money for a flooded Nashville.

"It is bad, but we'll get through it and be okay," said Adkins, who signed autographs and took pictures with fans for an hour outside the studios of local country station 99.5 FM (The Wolf). Listeners were invited down to meet the star for a minimum donation of $5 to relief efforts for country music's home city, which was devastated by flooding last month.

Annual, free concert and fireworks extravaganza on go for Riverfront Park

Nashville will once again celebrate July 4th like only the Music City can – with great music and the nation’s best fireworks display! Country music star Trace Adkins will headline the “Music City July 4th: Let Freedom Sing!” celebration in Riverfront Park. The show line-up will also include Julianne Hough, Jaci Velasquez, the Grammy-winning Nashville Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and Nashville actor Barry Scott. Former American Idol contestant and CBS “Early Show” contributor Ayla Brown will perform the national anthem.

“Nashville’s July 4th celebration is consistently ranked among the best in the country and this year will be no different,” said Mayor Karl Dean.
