Adkins' First Project for Show Dog - Universal Music Arrives In Stores Tuesday, August 17
Deluxe Package Featuring Four Bonus Tracks Will Also Be Available Same Day
One of Nashville's most storied careers will take another step forward on August 17* as country star Trace Adkins releases the eagerly awaited Cowboy's Back In Town. The latest CD by the acclaimed singer, author, actor, commentator, and reality show star is the first for Show Dog - Universal Music, the new label headed by fellow superstar Toby Keith and producer Mark Wright.
The album is vintage Trace Adkins, with songs ranging from those celebrating love, like the tender "Still Love You," to those showcasing the rowdy side of country living, like the hilarious "Hold My Beer." Adkins is at the top of his game vocally, and the album shows him re-emerging as a top-flight songwriter, as he penned the title track, "Cowboy's Back In Town," with friends Jeff Bates and Kenny Beard, who co-produced along with Michael Knox (Jason Aldean).
"This Ain't No Love Song" - Request Today!
The American Ride tour, featuring Toby Keith, Trace Adkins and James Otto, launched in Holmdel, N.J., over the weekend, and Trace says last year's trek with Toby was the catalyst for him changing record labels, moving from Capitol Nashville to Show Dog-Universal Music.
"Touring with Toby last year, it changed my career, because I got to see first hand not just the way his organization is run, but the fact that they still place a premium on having fun," says Trace. "That's why I got in this business in the first place, and that's where I want to be. I don't know how many more years I've got left in this business, but I want to have fun with the ones I do have left. This feels like a comfortable place and the right place for me to be able to do this. I'm glad that's where I'm at now."
THIS AIN'T NO LOVE SONG (Show Dog/Universal Music)
Trace Adkins' strong first single on the Show Dog label signals a new chapter in his career and serves as the initial taste of his new album, due in August. Penned by Tony Lane, Marcel and David Lee, "This Ain't No Love Song" describes a man coping with a relationship's demise. Adkins uses his gift for interpreting a great lyric to infuse this breakup tune with the right mix of denial, ache, resignation and kiss-my-butt attitude that will surely resonate with listeners. One of the industry's most underrated vocalists, Adkins has always scored well on country radio but has yet to rack up major industry awards. Here's hoping this new deal and a fresh start yield even greater success for this talented artist.

Trace Adkins may be best known for his cowboy-style country music crooning, but in his first in-depth interview about the BP oil spill, this former oil rig roughneck and derrickman reveals he's unhappy with BP's "company man" mentality and the media's portrayal of his former profession. And he insists the president, despite his rhetoric, is powerless.
"He's hamstrung now," Adkins says. Without opening leases on the continental shelf and drilling for oil in "depths that are more manageable," he says companies are forced to drill in deeper water where the risks are exponentially greater. more!
Country music star, Trace Adkins will be joining Anderson tonight via satellite to talk about the Gulf oil spill disaster. Seniors Jackson Hargett and Ashlee Price are the two responsible for getting Trace to come to their school to address the 200 graduates by just writing a letter and asking him.
In a really convoluted way, the letter actually reached the Louisiana native. "Somebody that knew somebody that knew my bass player's wife and it finally got around to me," Trace tells The Boot. "It was really cool the way it finally got to me. Greg, my bass player, came up on the bus and handed me a letter from this high school, and I had never been asked to do that before."
