ADKINS KNOWS A GOOD SONG WHEN HE SINGS ONE

01/24/07

By Neil Haislop

Trace Adkins knows a good song when he hears and sees one, but when it isn't his own, that doesn't mean he wants to sing it.

During Great American Country's Songs of the Year show, Adkins who co hosted the show with James Denton- explained how he made the decision to sing Roger Miller's "King of the Road."

[More:]

"Great songs are the only kind Roger Miller wrote. He didn't write bad songs. When I was rehearsing '"King of the Road" and somebody asked me, 'How'd that feel to you,' and I said 'Sacrilegious!' Since everybody else is being sacrilegious too and singing songs they don't deserve to be singing, I'll do it too."

Cracker Barrel Songs of the Year premieres Saturday, January 27, at 9 p.m. ET on GAC.
